UPDATE: Hwy 5 full reopened south of Merritt

(UPDATE: Oct. 1 @ 6:27 pm) – The southbound lane of Highway 5 is now fully open south of Larson Hill.

The highway was closed Tuesday afternoon due to a vehicle collision.


(UPDATE: Oct. 1 @4:15 pm) – DriveBC says Highway 5 remains closed in the southbound lanes at Brodie Bridge.

A vehicle collision about two kilometres south of Larson Hill is the cause for the lane closure.

The next update is expected around 5 pm and the highway is estimated to be reopened at 5:30 pm Tuesday evening.


(Original story: Oct. 1 @ 1:15 pm) – A southbound lane of Highway 5 is closed south of Merritt Tuesday afternoon.

DriveBC says a vehicle incident has closed the highway at Brodie Bridge, which is about two kilometres south of Larson Hill.

Unfortunately, no detour is available at this time as Highway 8 remains closed to all non-local traffic.

Alternate routes include Highway 5A to Highway 3 or Highway 1.

An assessment is in progress, however, the next update form DriveBC is not expected until 2 pm on Tuesday.
