The City of Penticton is informing motorists and cyclists commuting across the bridge along Nanaimo Avenue that they should consider alternate routes on Monday.
Crews have commenced work to restore Penticton Creek, which will require the bridge to be temporarily closed while pipes are moved into place.
Alternate routes include using Van Horne Street/Wade Avenue or Abbot Street/Westminister Avenue.
“We would like to thank motorists and cyclists in advance for their patience Monday while this work is carried out,” said City engineer Ian Chapman, in a news release.
The pipe being installed will be used to divert water past the section of Penticton Creek that is currently undergoing restoration work.
PentictonNow visited the site Friday morning and remediation work on Penticton Creek is well underway, but the bridge was not blocked off in either direction.
That won’t be the case all day Monday. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic Tuesday morning.
Questions can be directed to the City’s engineering department at 250-490-2521.
