Meet Liam! Liam is originally from Birmingham, England and has been living here in the beautiful Okanagan for about 6 months. When he's not in the brewery, he enjoys carving up the ski hill with his family and spending some quality time with best friend & wife, Kelsey.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Penticton?
Originally Birmingham, England. I moved to Canada in 2008 and made my way to beautiful Penticton last fall.

Probably not suitable for publication...
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
The entire process of planning this project, and attracting our amazing team to Kelsey and my vision has been extremely inspiring and rewarding.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Pretty much any family ski trip.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Project managing the renovation and brewery build isn't leaving me with as much time to give back at the moment. Our brewery has some really exciting community initiatives and give-backs planned, and am looking forward to getting them going and engaging with our fantastic community.

Where to begin...

A focus on economic development in the downtown core and a move to year-around tourism.
What do you think makes Penticton great?
The passionate, visionary people I continue to meet that want to grow and make Penticton the best it can be. I think I work hard, but seeing some of the other local entrepreneurs and people looking to make a difference in Penticton is truly inspiring.

Facebook, Instagram, Courier Pigeon... the occasional type-writer telegram from my pal Dan in Boston lol
What is the name of your business/organization?
Hatchery Brewing
Why did you get into/start this business?
Pouring pints in pubs probably a few years before I should have been. Always loved this industry, and moving out here grew my love for good beer, so the dream of starting a pub grew into a brewery.
What is the goal of your business?
Provide our community with the best beer, food and experience that we can offer and to build a company culture that attracts fantastic, passionate people that want to learn and grow alongside us.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Not enough time to go fishing!
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Few tweaks, but if everything was always perfect and straight forward, how would you ever learn anything?
What do you always find yourself saying?
Awesome.
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Be excellent to each other."
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My wife, Kelsey.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
As impactful tourism money can be, it's local businesses and people that keep our economy going year around. It's important to put money back into the pockets of those in our community to provide new opportunity and inspire growth in our town.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Starting the Whistler Village Beer Festival, Great Okanagan Beer Festival - and now building the dream - Hatchery Brewing.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Pat, Ron & Ian Dyck, Kim & Ross and their rockstar team at Cannery Brewing. A true class act in our community and the brewing industry. We can't explain how amazing they've been to us through this endeavour - love you guys!
