Meet Deirdre! Deirdre is originally from London, Ontario and has been living here in Penticton for three years. She enjoys skiing up at Apex in the winter and spending some quality time with her two sons.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Penticton?
London Ontario, 3 years.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My boys, Taidhg and Ciaran. Every day is new, entertaining and full of inquiry.
What is your favourite local store in Penticton and why?
The Farmer's Market. Not quite a store, but a place where the locals all convene and where I can trust to purchase great produce and local yummy food for the week.
Describe yourself in one word.
Determined.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Ireland. My family is from the Emerald Isle and a way for me to get back to my roots.
What is your favourite activity in Penticton?
Skiing at Apex.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I am a working mom and as an entrepreneur, I went back to work when both my boys were just babies. The most embarrassing thing was having a colleague walk in on me while I was pumping breastmilk.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Becoming a doctor and then pursuing my certification in Prolotherapy.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Summers as a child were spent in the woods by my house collecting crayfish at a local river. We used to bring them home and try to keep them as pets. We always failed at this but kept going back to try to build their right ecosystem again.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Apex Canadian Ski Patrol.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Peace.
Where would you sneak away to in Penticton to spend some time alone?
Apex.
Where would you like to see positive change in Penticton and why?
Greater access to health care services for people in pain.

My family all live in Alabama.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Alpine Natural Health.
Why did you get into/start this business?
Always knew I want to be a doctor since I was a little girl.
What is the goal of your business?
Help people resolve their pain so they can keep doing what they love to do.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Being a working mom. Balancing it all.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
The same.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"Eat your veggies."
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Do what you love."
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My dad. He is an inspiration to me. My dad lives in the Southern States leading my visits to be precious but too far in between.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To keep the community thriving.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Becoming a Doctor.
