Canadian folk artist Donovan Woods bringing fall tour to Kelowna

A hidden gem on the Canadian music scene will be making his way to the Okanagan later this year.

Donovan Woods has announced a North American fall tour and it includes a stop at the Kelowna Community Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The tour announcement comes just over two months before he releases his seventh studio album, Things Were Never Good If They’re Not Good Now, on July 12.

With the new album, Woods flexes his masterful storytelling abilities with 12 sparse, intimate songs that reflect on the ups and downs of his life since 2020.

He said it serves as “a funeral to the life he was living.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Woods, the Ontario-born musician is all about folk and roots, which earned him a Juno nomination in 2013 and a win for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year in 2019.

He’s been quoted as saying the psychology of people’s actions have always fascinated him, and focusing on happy, party feeling does not appeal to him.

Tickets to see Woods live in Kelowna in October will go on sale through Live Nation at 10 am on Friday, May 10.
